There’s nothing better than when something comes together just right.. ya know? Well in this category, it takes a combination of song, movement, and story-telling to create the perfect blend. This year in Las Vegas, Ro Shon and Lauren welcomed “Days of Our Lives” heart throb, Eric Martsolf, to present the star award for Best Novelty/Character/Musical Theatre Performance.
This year’s winners, “Too Darn Hot,” from Allegro Performing Arts came out on top of the competition. After speaking with Angie Martinez of Allegro, it is clear why these performers took home the Star Award. Since August of 2012, “Too Darn Hot” has taken up an hour each week of practice time. What’s even more impressive is that all of this “happened amidst other training courses and rehearsals.”
Angie conveyed just how “amazing and thrilling the feeling of being nominated was,” and that “it was an unexpected surprise to most of the dancers.” Moreover, it didn’t take long for people at home in Washington state to find out the routine had won. “Everybody was very excited at the studio, and within one hour the word had spread to Facebook and Twitter.” It’s apparent that the students at Allegro are pretty close, in that it only took an hour for the word to spread about this award.
Altogether, their hard work payed off at a national level, and Ms. Angie wanted us to know that it took a lot of effort from the team that put “Too Darn Hot” together. Those who are not in the routine that had a hand it in are: Tanya Goodwillie, Tiffany Brooks, and Eddie Strachan (choreographer). Keep up the good work Allegro!
